Simple 5-Step Process

DJ Blair Design understands that building a new home is more than just building floors, walls and a roof; it is building a lifestyle.  Building a new home is also an investment; financially, and emotionally.

We are often asked up front for a "ball park price" or "free quote."  We don't provide these, not because we don't want to, but because there are far too many factors that influence the cost of construction and to throw out a number without having a basis for it is a disservice to you.

What we do provide is our knowledge, expertise and a simple 5-step process to take you from concept to close-out seamlessly.   

Step 1: CONSULTATION/ COLLABORATION

This step begins the journey.  During this step we will:

  • Discuss the Design Process

  • Identify the “must haves” and “would likes” for the project 

  • Share ideas that meet your expectations accomplish your goals

  • Establish the target budget values of your project

Step 2: CREATE

This step is where the concept begins to materialize and the initial design is prepared.  Our expert staff will:

  • Review local ordinances and environmental issues that may influence the design

  • Prepare an initial site plan (a plat of survey for the property is required)

  • Prepare preliminary floor plan(s) and elevation(s) based on information from the Consultation and Pre-Design Checklist

  • Meet, review and discuss the concept design and propose refinements necessary to achieve the end goal

Step 3: COSTING/ CONTRACT

Upon acceptance of the concept design, our team will:

  • Prepare a construction budget

  • Review the the budget figures and propose value engineering if required

  • Finalize the design and prepare permit/ construction documents

  • Finalize the construction cost and contract

Step 4: CONSTRUCTION

Once the permit/ construction documents are complete, the work begins.  DJ Blair Design will:

  • Assist with obtaining permits and approvals from governing authorities

  • Attend a pre-construction meeting with Construction/ Project management team at the request of the homeowner

  • Stay involved during the construction process to ensure conformance with the design through close-out

Step 5: CLOSE OUT

As construction comes to completion, our team will:

  • Coordinate and prepare a punch list

  • Facilitate final inspections with governing authorities as required

  • Review warranty documentation
