DJ BLAIR DESIGN understands that building a new home is more than just building floors, walls and a roof; it is building a lifestyle. Our simple process takes you from concept to construction seamlessly.

CONSULTATION/ COLLABORATION

This step begins the journey. During this step, we will:

Discuss the Design Process
Identify the “must-haves” and “would-likes” for the project
Share ideas that meet your expectations and accomplish your goals
Establish the target budget values of your project

INITIAL DESIGN

This step is where the concept begins to materialize, and the initial design is prepared. During Initial Design we will:

Review local ordinances and environmental issues that may influence the design
Prepare an initial site plan (a plat of survey for the property is required)
Prepare preliminary floor plan(s) and elevation(s) based on information from the Consultation and Pre-Design Checklist
Meet, review, and discuss the concept design and propose refinements necessary to achieve the end goal

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

Upon acceptance of the Initial Design, our team will:

Incorporate refinements and revisions into the design
Add details to the design necessary for budgeting
Prepare material selections necessary for budgeting

Upon acceptance of the Developed Design, DJ Blair Design will:

Provide drawings to Contractors for budgeting
Provide drawings to consultants, i.e. Structural Engineers, Electrical, Plumbing and/ or Mechanical Contractors that are necessary to obtain required permits and approvals from governing authorities
Review contractor bids for "apples to apples" comparisons.

CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS & ADMINISTRATION

Upon approval from the governing authorities and approval of the construction budget:

Drawings will be updated as needed based on Permit review comments and contractors' requests for clarification (value engineering of plans is not included but may be provided, if needed, as additional services).
During construction, provide additional details and provide clarification of plans as needed.
Upon completion of construction, coordinate and prepare a final punch list for contractor completion
